Don’t Believe THe Marketing Hype or Other Reviews,
Before purchasing this product I did alot of research and read many reviews (what I thought were independent, non-bias ones) After I purchased this product I realized I didn’t get what I thought I was getting and feel that both the reviews and the company’s marketing are misleading.
For instance, the company claims that this program is WYSIWYG — but that is a matter of opinion. Unlike iWeb or Dreamer you can see the text or page as you are editing it. As the company says it is WYSIWIG because with a few simple clicks you can view your edits in a preview screen. To be that’s a preview feature and not WYSIWIG.
Unfortunately my website is taking twice as long as it should because the program is NOT easy to navigate, the themes are NEARLY impossible to edit and anything you want to do (besides just adding text) takes several steps that aren’t easily to figure out.
I will say that tech support is very responsive. It has answered most of my questions within 4 hours but with an attitude that I need to change how I want to use the program and conform o the RapidWeaver way.
If I could rewind the time I spent designing this site and get a refund I would and go purchase Sandvox which seems like a much better program.
So, SAVE YOUR MONEY AND PURCHASE A DIFFERENT PROGRAM.
I hope this was helpful. ([..])

|Can’t even get it to do anything,
I have made three websites: two business websites, one using Softpress Freeway and one using Apple iWeb, and one personal website using iWeb. My business websites are a half dozen pages each and look presentable. My personal website is over 60 pages. So I am capable of making websites if I have software that is intuitive and easy to use.
RapidWeaver, on the other hand, is impossible. I have tried several times to figure out how to use it, and I can’t even figure out how to get basic text onto a page. In iWeb and Freeway, you just make a text box and put your text in it. On RapidWeaver…I have no idea. I went to its Help file to get instructions…nothing. I went to the website…it tells how to format text, but I can’t even get text in there to begin with. I can’t get the program to do much of anything. I finally give up in frustration each time I try.
Even if you can figure out how to use it, it’s not a WYSIWYG program. I can see from the tutorial videos that you have to go back and forth between the view you use to set up your page, and the view to see what it actually looks like (preview), and they’re nothing the same. In Freeway, there is a preview mode you can check in a browser, but the setup page is not all that different, so you can know what it’s going to look like as you go. Not so in RapidWeaver.
If for some reason you don’t want to use iWeb but you still want an easy program to build a website, I strongly recommend Freeway, and strongly recommend you avoid RapidWeaver. Freeway is a little more difficult to use than iWeb, but it also has some more precise capabilities than what iWeb has (like manipulation of layering and making TABLES, for instance!). There’s even a pro version of Freeway for those who are more advanced in web design (the simpler version is Freeway Express, which is what I use). And Freeway Express & Pro come with an extensive .pdf user manual that is far more helpful than the extremely limited help RapidWeaver gives. Oh, and RapidWeaver makes you PAY for tutorial videos beyond the most basic. Stay away from RapidWeaver.

|Not ready for prime time,
I’m trying to like this program and not succeeding. You have different page types for different functions (photo, text video, etc.). Why not 1 page type to which you drag different modules? A plugin called Stacks apparently does this but you have to pay an additional $25 for something THAT SHOULD BE BUILT INTO RW FROM THE START. Time you add the themes, all the essential plug ins, add ons, etc. to achieve any type of basic operability the cost becomes ridiculous. You could buy a full version of Dreamweaver and have money left over for lunch.
There is no real WYSIWYG with this program. You can’t drag and arrange elements.
If I want to create a basic slideshow banner, you have to choose a theme that could do this and then go thru several workarounds and you guessed it, more add ons to make it work.
Along with a non intuitive interface and you have a program that’s all hat and no cattle.
